So i have been playing gears more and more lately and i decided to write a review...
Gears of war starts off with you, Fenix, getting taken out of jail by an old friend dom.
This goes from a simple team fighting to all out battle within a few levels.
The games feature of using cover and being able to blind fire is a new addition to many newer games.
While the game is not played like the makers intended (using cover most of the time and not rushing up to places with a shotgun) it still is a fun, great, gory game.
Gore and language content can be turned on and off in this game. With gore on when meleeing someone blood goes on your screen, while when off it is just a simple clear view and the language in the game is turned down.

Man your just a tough grader! On average I've notice, my reviews are /- 2% from IGN reviews, and about /- 4% off from the press average review. Not bad. But if you look at my game line up, you'll rarely see me playing a game rated lower than 85%, maybe I have an few low 80s, but all in all, my games are all high rated games for some odd random reason. Maybe I should stop going with the crowd lol.

well i don't grade it on how i liked it i grade on how it really is... gears... graphics were grate... but could have been better... the story... well just i liked but it was like a strip tease... it showed you a lil but then was like nope i got herpies it aint a good idea to dive in yet

Graphics could have been better? What sort of benchmark are you comparing this to? lol... I feel as if Gears is one of the better games out there graphically. Especially for it's time, it still competes with games being released today.

idk... some things i did not like to much about the graphics
it seems like they took a bunch of consideration into what it would look like if i were to go up to a dead boomer and shoot him with a shotgun but nothing if i hit the belly of a seeder with the hammer of dawn

Valid point, but I think the Unreal graphics engine is just amazing and I really hope a lot of games pick it up because it's the most amazing engine I've ever seen.

yea... i mean most games now a days would get a 6-5 and gears did get a 7 so you can see i did give it better than the rest... i am just a tuff grader

Yep!
that's pretty much my point, you're a tough grader! It's hard for me to grade low because most games I play rank 85% or above by accredited raters anyway. Plus you really should rank on how this games compare to others of it's genre so I find it hard to give anything in any one section anything below a 6 because if they at least put in effort (which they do since game designers are paid) I usually give 7-10s.

I really like the game play of Gears. The only thing that REALLY bothered me what the lack of story, or to be better put, the lack of them to communicate the story.
That actually made it worse. The fact that you get enough to know there is a BIG story, but never really know what the hell is going on.
Grrrr!

sadly no gears books... hopefully soon though.
that is why i didn't give it full 10's
the story was great... but didn't go too much indepth...
