Let's see. I mostly agree with it. As much as Mass Effect 2 is an improvement over 1, here is my list of the 3 things that were messed up.
1. Absolutely the biggest, most stupid change is scanning the planets for resources. It takes a ton of time, and for little pay out. Your cursor moves SO slow, that to make 1 360 degree rotation around a planet at it's narrowest point is like 30 seconds. So it takes like 5 minutes of scanning a planet to deplete it, and then you are out of probes and have to return to the main star to go buy more probes, wasting more fuel, costing you unnecessarily. Huge waste of time.
2. I'm not a fan of the new heat sinks as clips function. I preferred it when you had unlimited ammo, and just a limited amount of shots before you had to reload. Then, as a sniper i could clear out a whole encampment without even coming in range, but now i can only take 10 or so shots and then i have to get into close combat, which isn't the strong point of my class. Maybe i'd feel different if i was a run'n'gun class, but i am a slow, long range class, and close range just makes it feel too harried.
3. The squad tactics are a bit meh, though it's a bit of an improvement over the first game. It just could ahve been implemented better. Instead, I mostly focus on taking everything out myself, and am surprised when I get actual help from my team.
The disc thing i don't mind so much, just a bit of an inconvenience, and i'm not really far enough into the game for the jack thing, so i can't really comment on those.
It's just harder in the fact that most of my weapons are more suitable for long range, and thus have slow fire rate/longer reloads or smaller clips. I have an smg that I can use at short range, but thus far it has done nothing more then allow my power recharge timer to reset so i can activate invisibility and run away from battle. Plus, I don't have many increase health/shields upgrades to help survive close combat (though i can get access to choose one when one of my companions becomes loyal). However, I just got a sniper upgrade which dramatically increased my ammo capacity, so it is not as annoying. It is still a problem if you ask me, but not as bad.
hmm, i never had an issue with close combat and the smg. there are plenty of shield and armor upgrades out there that you can get. Also keep in mind that the smg is excellent and taking down shields and barriers and even better with disruption amo on imo. Also the farther you get in the game you will get another smg that is far better than the one you start with.
